One of the key principles of living a paleo lifestyle is to ensure that you eat food that is available locally. Our ancestors didn’t have the option to ship foodstuffs half way around the world – and the Paleo diet tries to avoid doing that. Bord Bia have found that two-thirds of adults consider buying locally produced food important when they shop, with one-third of those asked saying that they buy more locally produced now than they did a year ago. Why is this? Eating foods available locally means that we are supporting the Irish economy, encouraging local agriculture and getting some of the best food on the planet. What’s not to like?
At Paleo Ireland, we believe in sourcing our products locally and so, you can rest easy in the knowledge that your food has been carefully sourced and prepared with the health and wellbeing of you in mind we would like to take this opportunity to introduce our dedicated suppliers. These are the people who work tirelessly to ensure that our customers get a wholesome, healthy, tasty and fresh meal with minimal hassle.
So, without further ado…
1. Meat Supplier – Eddie Lloyd Craft Butcher, Dublin
Eddie Lloyd’s have been providing the highest quality meat to their customers in Dublin for five generations. This craft butcher is the supplier all of the meat for our Paleo meals ensuring that only the best cuts are used. We only use Irish meat & poultry which is traceable back to the farm of origin. In Ireland, our meat is some of the best in the world. Our carefully monitored agricultural practices ensure that the animals are treated well and fed well. Most Irish cattle are fed on grass, thanks to our great climate! This is important because grass-fed cattle have higher amounts of Omega 3’s than grain-fed cattle – and omega 3 intake is a key concern in nutrition.
2. Vegetable Supplier – Eat Fresh, Dublin
Eat Fresh supply us with all the veggies that go into our meals. Where possible we use in season Irish vegetables in our meals to help create a great taste. Locally produced vegetables are allowed to mature for longer than those that are heading for shipment. We don’t freeze them within an inch of their life to prolong shelf life. Our supplier provides us with freshly picked ingredients which reach our kitchens without delay and get cooked up while they are still in peak freshness. Using mostly Irish produce cuts down on the environmental impact of shipping vegetables from Europe and further afield.
3. Packaging - Dollard Packaging, Dublin
Dollard Packaging, our supplier of packaging have been creating food grade packaging from their premises on the Malahide road since 1982. They work with many Irish household brands to create packaging of the highest quality. They are both ISO and FSC certified, not to mention, very good at what they do! We are delighted to get our packaging supplies from Dollard packaging, as the work they do keeps our food fresh and tasty until you are ready to eat it.
4. Deli & Meal Production – Patrick’s Deli, Dublin
Paleo Meal Productions (Patrick’s Deli) is the 6,000 sq. ft meal production facility where all of our meals are produced. From this base, which has an 18-year food production history, a team of fifteen chefs work hard to cook up our mouth-watering meals. The dishes are all designed by a nutritionist with the input of Paleo Ireland, CEO, Anthony. The meals we supply are free from gluten, monosodium glutamate, additives and refined carbohydrates, in line with the Paleo diet. They are, however, rich in protein and essential fats to ensure that your body is getting everything it needs to keep it in great shape.
5. Order & Delivery System
This part of the operation is run by our band of five Paleo Ireland staff who ensure that communication between our customers and us is always maintained. We use a simple, user-friendly website powered by Shopify to ensure that the store experience is hassle free for our customers. Once you place your order you can be sure that our admin team put all the processes in place, from supplier to delivery, to ensure that your meals reach you on time.
We are constantly working to improve our service and you can stay up to date with our most recent delivery options on our website.
6. Fridge Vans
Paleo Ireland have a full-time team of delivery suppliers out and about on the roads of Ireland. Our vans are refrigerated and temperature regulated to keep the meals chilled while in transit. We also offer an option for customers outside of Dublin to have your meal delivered in a ThermoCool box which keeps the food cold for up to 24 hours. This is handy if you won’t be able to refrigerate your meals straight away at your place of delivery.
As we deliver from our base in Dublin, thanks to geography, you don’t have to worry about how long our food has been in transit. There are no shipping containers, freight trains, vast distances or unnecessary delays when you order with Paleo Ireland. Because we’re a local supplier of Paleo food deliveries, your food is local too.
Really, you should have been number one on this list, as you’re our number one concern. But you are also our destination, everything we do from sourcing our meat and veg, to preparing the meals and hitting the road is all done with the aim of providing you, our customers, with the best, fresh, Irish Paleo meals possible.
At Paleo Ireland, we’re passionate about what we do. We love living the Paleo lifestyle and sharing it with others.
